Marseille midfielder Nadir stable after on-pitch collapse
Marseille midfielder Bilal Nadir is in good health but undergoing a "full medical check-up" after collapsing off the ball during the team's Ligue 1 draw with Angers, his club said on Thursday.
The 21-year-old went down when seemingly on his own, with the ball not in play, in the 86th minute at the Stade Velodrome on Wednesday, just 10 minutes after coming on as a substitute.
He was surrounded by concerned players from both teams before being stretchered off.
"The player did not lose consciousness at the time of the incident," Marseille said in a statement.
"Upon being attended to by the club's medical staff and the emergency services at the scene, all of his vital signs were found to be normal.
"As a precaution, Bilal Nadir was transferred to hospital for a full medical evaluation. His condition is good and he remains under observation."
Marseille conceded a late equaliser to Angers to miss the chance to usurp Paris Saint-Germain at the top of the Ligue 1 table.
