Volkswacht Bodensee - Eagles offensive coordinator Moore hired as Saints coach

The Saints announced the move as the echos of celebrations reverberated around New Orleans from Sunday's 40-22 Eagles' victory over Kansas City in the NFL championship spectacle.

"At the start of the interview process, it was important to find a head coach who was the right fit for the New Orleans Saints," team owner Gayle Benson said in a statement.

"Through the search process, it became clear that Kellen is the right person to help us re-establish a winning program and culture that our fans are accustomed to and have come to expect."

He replaces Dennis Allen, who was fired after a 2-7 start to a 5-12 Saints season finished by interim coach Darren Rizzi.

Moore, 36, will move to a different job for the fourth consecutive year as he becomes an NFL head coach for the first time.

Moore was on the staff of the Dallas Cowboys from 2018-2022, serving as offensive coordinator the last four of those seasons, and was the offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2023 before joining the Eagles for last season.

"I'm excited to join the New Orleans Saints and deeply appreciate the faith that Mrs. Benson and the entire Saints organization have placed in me," Moore said.

"I look forward to embracing the challenges ahead and am eager to get started. I would also like to thank the Philadelphia Eagles for an incredible 2024 season. I'm excited to begin this new chapter."

Moore's mission will be to revive a Saints squad that has missed the playoffs the past four seasons and since winning the Super Bowl in 2010 has reached the NFC conference final only once, a loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the 2018 campaign.

"He is an outstanding communicator with the ability to lead people and has a clear vision for this football team," Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said.

The Eagles produced powerhouse offensive numbers under Moore's guidance, ranking among the top quarter of NFL teams in scoring and yardage behind star quarterback Jalen Hurts and running back Saquon Barkley, who became only the ninth 2,000-yard rusher in NFL history.

His departure means the Eagles will have their fourth different offensive coordinator in as many seasons when the 2025 campaign kicks off in September.

Moore played three seasons each as a quarterback for the Detroit Lions and Cowboys.
