Marquez fractured a vertebra and his right collarbone in Catalonia after flipping off his bike, which was totally destroyed after a collision with a wall.

While battling with Pedro Acosta for the race lead, Marquez ran into the back of his compatriot, who experienced a technical problem and suddenly slowed down.

After missing the Italian GP, May 29-31, and the Hungarian race, June 5-7, Marquez could return in the Czech Republic, for the Grand Prix from June 19-21, depending on his recovery.

Marquez had surgery on his collarbone fracture on Sunday and is awaiting a re-evaluation of his fracture of the C7 cervical vertebra.

His older brother and reigning MotoGP champion Marc Marquez is also currently out injured and likely to miss the Italian Grand Prix.
