Unbeaten Swiss to meet Great Britain in Olympic men's curling semis
Undefeated Switzerland will play Great Britain in the Olympic men's curling semi-finals on Thursday with Canada to take on Norway in a tournament that has been overshadowed by cheating claims.
The Swiss locked up first place in the men's curling preliminary round-robin with a perfect nine wins at Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium.
"We want to keep all that momentum going," Swiss skip Yannick Schwaller said.
Canada secured second place with an 8-3 win over hosts Italy, to bring their record to seven wins and one defeat.
The remaining two places went to Great Britain and Norway who both had five wins and four losses in the preliminary round.
Italy still had a chance to reach Thursday evening's semi-finals, but the Italians' 9-5 defeat to Switzerland put Great Britain through.
Norway confirmed its qualification by narrowly beating Canada 8–6.
The Norwegians and three-time Olympic champions Canada will meet again to battle for a place in the final.
Defending champions Sweden crashed out after finishing ninth out of ten teams with China.
The men's tournament at the Milan-Cortina Games has been marked by a controversy that cast unprecedented light on curling when a Swedish player accused a Canadian opponent of cheating, and the latter responded by insulting him.
