NFL Bills make offensive coordinator Brady new head coach
The Buffalo Bills have promoted offensive coordinator Joe Brady to become their new head coach after agreeing to terms on a five-year deal, the NFL club announced on Tuesday.
Brady has served as offensive coordinator of the Bills for the past three seasons under Sean McDermott, who was fired last week after nine years guiding Buffalo.
The move came after the Bills were eliminated by Denver in the NFL playoffs. Buffalo went to the playoffs eight times under McDermott, but the team has never won a Super Bowl.
Brady, 36, spent the 2020 and 2021 seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers, then joined the Bills' staff and served as quarterbacks coach for two years before taking over as interim offensive coordinator in 2023 after the Bills fired Ken Dorsey.
Brady backstopped 29-year-old Bills star quarterback Josh Allen's 2024 NFL Most Valuable Player season and boosted James Cook, the 2025 NFL rushing yardage champion, as a way to make Buffalo's offensive unit more versatile and effective.
The Bills went 31-10 with Brady as offensive coordinator, the NFL's best record during that span.
