Italy international Raspadori leaves Atletico to join Atalanta
Italian international Giacomo Raspadori has joined Atalanta, just six months after leaving Napoli for Atletico Madrid, where he failed to establish himself.
"Giacomo Raspadori is Atalanta's seventh signing of the 2025–26 season; the Nerazzurri have finalised his permanent acquisition from Atletico Madrid," the club announced in a statement published Thursday evening.
The transfer fee was not disclosed, but is estimated by the Italian press at 22 million euros ($25.5 million).
Atletico paid between 22 and 26 million euros last August to sign Raspadori but managed two goals in 15 appearances, neither of them coming in the league where he started just once.
A Sassuolo youth product, Raspadori won two Serie A titles with Napoli, his club from 2022 to 2025, for whom he scored 18 goals in 109 appearances across all competitions.
His former club and Roma were also reported to be chasing him.
With 11 goals in 45 games for Italy, Raspadori joins a club on the rise since Raffaele Palladino replaced Ivan Juric as coach in November.
Atalanta, at one point 13th in Serie A, are seventh after winning their last three matches. They are fifth in the Champions League league phase with 13 points, ahead of the final two matchdays.
