NFL MVP Allen 'good to go' to extend streak in stadium farewell
Reigning NFL Most Valuable Player Josh Allen was limited in practice Friday but Buffalo coach Sean McDermott says he is "good to go" to stretch his consecutive starts streak on Sunday.
The 29-year-old Bills quarterback suffered a right foot injury two weeks ago against Cleveland and aggravated it last week against reigning champion Philadelphia.
Allen missed practice Wednesday and Thursday but was on the field Friday and pronounced fit to face the visiting New York Jets on Sunday.
"We wanted to make sure his health was number one the last two days," McDermott told WGR radio.
"He'll be good to go for the game and we'll take it one day at a time."
Allen has started 121 consecutive games for the Bills, 134 in a row including playoff contests, and that streak looks set to continue even as another looks set to end.
Highmark Stadium, Buffalo's home venue since 1973, could be hosting its final Bills game, with the team unlikely to host a playoff game and a new stadium across the street set to open for the 2026 campaign.
The Bills (11-5) have secured a wildcard playoff berth but would need several upsets in the AFC playoffs to play a post-season contest at Buffalo.
Allen has not missed a start since being sidelined four games in 2018 during his rookie NFL campaign.
With Philip Rivers being benched by Indianapolis on Sunday after his return from retirement, Allen will once more have the NFL's longest active quarterback start streak.
Allen played only one snap from center for the Bills in last year's season finale and could be relieved by backup Mitchell Trubisky in Sunday's contest.
