Volkswacht Bodensee - Russian Strike in Kyiv Region Kills at Least 27 and Forces Evacuations

At least 27 people were killed in a Russian attack on the Bucha district near Kyiv, Ukrainian officials said Saturday. Tymur Tkachenko, head of the regional military administration, said at least 50 residential buildings were damaged.

The strike triggered a large fire that spread to homes and a restaurant. President Volodymyr Zelensky said a warehouse in the village of Myla was hit and that a detonation followed. He did not identify what the warehouse contained.

Zelensky said criminal proceedings had been opened on suspicion of official negligence. He noted that regulations prohibit storing ammunition near homes and other residential areas.

The president said the damage included residential buildings and a care facility serving older people and people with disabilities. More than 370 people had been evacuated and the operation was continuing.

The attack occurred during a third consecutive day of near-constant air alerts in Kyiv. The warnings were disrupting civilian life and economic activity in the capital more than four and a half years after Russia began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
